A Wildfire Defense System You Control
Matador Fire's system is positioned at your property, filled with professional-grade fire retardant, and ready to use when evacuation orders are issued. When it's time to evacuate, you quickly spray your home and perimeter, increasing its resilience to embers and heat. Evacuate with peace of mind knowing your defense is in place.

Wildfire Defense Long After You Evacuate
Leaving your home shouldn't mean leaving it defenseless.
Most homeowners face a gut-wrenching choice: stay and fight, or evacuate with a sense of total powerlessness. While the instinct to stay and defend your property is strong, it is often both dangerous and an ineffective strategy.
The limitations of a garden hose.
Fighting a fire with a garden hose requires a constant human presence in high-risk conditions, and draws valuable resources from the municipal water supply. Because water evaporates almost immediately in hot and windy conditions that precede a wildfire, its protective value is lost soon after you stop spraying. Asking homeowners to remain on-site creates a significant burden for first responders as their focus must change from saving structures to saving lives.
A strategic alternative to staying behind.
Matador Fire's Wildfire Defense System is designed to give you a meaningful, effective action before you evacuate. By applying a specialized fire retardant to your property's most vulnerable surfaces, you create a persistent ember defense that remains active long after the fire risk subsides. This allows you to prioritize your family's safety by evacuating early, knowing your wildfire protection measures are in place.
Professional-Grade Equipment, Always Ready at Your Property.
Each Matador Fire Wildfire Defense System unit is a self-contained 50-gallon barrel of professional-grade, non-toxic fire retardant, equipped with a gas or electric pump and a 100-foot hose with an adjustable nozzle.
Matador Fire works with you to strategically place each unit to cover your property's most vulnerable areas. When conditions require action, you simply unroll the hose, turn the system on, and spray. Our wildfire defense system is designed for ease of use and quick deployment.

Defend Your Home. Then Evacuate.
Prioritize fast, focused deployment on high-risk ignition points first. As time permits, expand coverage to comprehensively coat the entire property.
Eaves and overhangs
Where heat and embers most commonly gather. A key ignition point on any home.
Base perimeter
Where walls intersect with the ground, embers settle and can cause structure ignition.
Decking and horizontal surfaces
Flat, flammable surfaces where ember accumulation is highest and ignition risk is concentrated.
Adjacent vegetation
Plants closest to structures often ignite first and can spread directly to structures.
From one Wildfire Defense unit, you get up to 130 feet of coverage in all directions — 100 feet of hose reach, plus up to an additional 30 feet of spray from the nozzle. Typically, a 2,500 sq ft home requires one unit and a 4,000 sq ft home requires two units on diagonal corners. Our team can provide a customized assessment to ensure you receive sufficient coverage.

What's Inside the Barrel
Matador Fire exclusively uses professional-grade fire retardant. Non-toxic to people, pets, and plants — independently tested by StillMeadow, Inc. and found to be EPA Category IV, the lowest hazard rating. Tested to Cal Fire Title 19 standards. Dries clear on most surfaces.
The retardant remains active until 3 cumulative inches of rainfall. In practice: working through fire season, and clearing when fuel moisture naturally lowers wildfire risk.

Real Questions
How is this different from a roof sprinkler system?
Residential sprinkler systems can easily cost more than $100,000 and require a more extensive planning and installation process. At that price point, they are designed to save one home on the block. The Matador Fire system is $1,800/year, and was designed to be affordable for all your neighbors on the street. Saving one home is not the answer — we designed a system to defend your whole neighborhood.
Why not just use a garden hose?
Water only works while it's being applied and evaporates within minutes, meaning that it provides no lasting protection. More importantly, staying behind to fight a wildfire with a hose puts you at serious risk. When civilians remain on scene, first responders have to shift from defending structures to protecting people. That pulls resources away from the homes that need them. Matador Fire's Wildfire Defense System is designed for the opposite: spray your most vulnerable surfaces with retardant that stays active long after you evacuate, and leave knowing your defense is in place.
Is the retardant effective?
Matador Fire's retardant has been saving properties from wildfire for over 4 years. Of the 432 homes treated in 2025, 100% remain standing. The product was tested in the “red zone” of 4 active wildfires (including the Palisades and Eaton fires). Of the treated properties, 68 faced a direct threat and 13 were in the direct fire line; all survived. It is currently utilized by private firefighting crews for large-scale residential protection.
Is the retardant safe around my family and pets year-round?
Yes. The retardant we use carries an EPA Category IV rating — the lowest hazard classification, “practically non-toxic.” It's independently tested, non-toxic to people, pets, and plants, and dries clear. It's on client properties across Los Angeles year-round.
What if I'm not home when evacuation orders are issued?
The system is designed for manual deployment and can be emptied in less than 10 minutes. If you aren't home, consider a trusted neighbor who knows your plan. During onboarding, we'll talk through your specific situation and contingencies.
Does this guarantee my home won't burn?
No. And the fact is nothing can. The Matador Fire Wildfire Defense System gives you an effective action that adds resilience to your home's most vulnerable surfaces. It empowers homeowners with the ability to contribute to the defense of their home rather than just evacuate. Our clients tell us that matters: “I feel like I've done everything I possibly can to empower myself.” — Palisades Fire survivor
