Brush clearance compliance will keep the city off your back. It will not stop a wildfire from burning your home down. Those are two different things.
The City of LA is inspecting every property in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone for brush clearance. Inspections start May 1.
Brush clearance is what LAFD wants. It clears vegetation around your home so fire doesn't spread as easily.
It does not protect your structure from ember intrusion, radiant heat, or direct flame contact. The Palisades Fire destroyed homes that were fully compliant.
